Growing up to 2.5 inches (6 cm) in length, the Metallic Texudo Platy shares the same streamlined body shape as other platies, with a slightly flattened tail and smooth, flowing movements. Its most notable feature, however, is the striking metallic coloration that can be found on its entire body, which contrasts beautifully with its soft, translucent fins. The vibrant, reflective sheen often changes in intensity depending on the angle of the light, providing dynamic movement and depth within the aquarium.

Despite its striking appearance, the Metallic Texudo Platy is known for its peaceful and calm temperament. These fish are social creatures and thrive in groups. While they are adaptable to various water conditions, they prefer a pH level of 7.0 to 8.2, with a temperature range between 70-82°F (21-28°C). Platies are hardy and can tolerate a wide range of conditions, but they will do best in clean, well-maintained aquariums with regular water changes. Gentle filtration will keep the water fresh, and they prefer stable, low-to-moderate water flow. They enjoy having plants and hiding spaces in their tank, but it’s equally important to ensure plenty of open swimming space to accommodate their active nature.

As omnivores, Metallic Texudo Platies enjoy a balanced diet that includes high-quality flakes or pellets, supplemented with live or frozen foods such as bloodworms, brine shrimp, and daphnia. A varied diet will not only keep them healthy and active but will also enhance their natural colors and metallic sheen. For optimal health, it’s also beneficial to occasionally feed them plant-based foods, such as spirulina flakes, algae wafers, or blanched vegetables like spinach and zucchini.

With proper care, including stable water conditions, a varied diet, and good tank mates, Metallic Texudo Platies can live up to 3-5 years in captivity. Their dynamic appearance, peaceful nature, and low-maintenance care make them an excellent addition to any aquarium, especially for those looking to add a dash of metallic brilliance to their fish collection.
